Solar power in the United States continues to grow rapidly, but not in a way that suggests a US solar industry renaissance.
The most recent industry data, released in October by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and GTM Research, suggested that of all solar installations installed since 2010, 22.5% were utility-scale solar plants.
But the SEIA trade group, which counts among its members major suppliers of solar technology, didn’t report much growth for the year, which ended in September.
GTM Research found that 8.8GW of utility-scale solar projects were completed in the first nine months of the year, less than half the growth rate from the previous two years.
